LOTTE MEITNER-GRAF

(1899-1973)

Lotte Meitner-Graf was born in Austria in 1899. She moved to England with her family in 1937 and opened a photographic studio at 23 Old Bond Street, London, in 1953. Her obituary in The Times read that there “can be few educated people who have not seen one of Lotte Meitner-Graf’s photographic portraits, either on a book jacket or on a record sleeve or concert programme.” She was known for photographing many influential musicians, actors and scientists.
