KATE PRAGNELL

(1856-)

Kate Pragnell was born in Stockbridge, Hampshire in 1856. She was registered living at 13 Bath Road in Chiswick in 1891 with artist Emily Bird and moved to 39 Brompton Square, Kensington in 1901 where she had a studio until 1911, employing only women to help her with the photographic printing process. Her photographs of Elyse Blythe, Linley Sambourne (1844-1910) and General Sir Beauvoir de Lisle (1864-1955) won her medals at Ladies Clubs, and her portrait of Mrs Lionel Portman made it onto the cover of Country Life on the 11th of November 1905.
