ADÈLE
(1845-1941)
Born in Ukraine on 9th August 1845, Adèle Perlmutter was Vienna’s first woman court photographer. She opened Adèle studio with her brothers Max and Wilhelm Perlmutter in 1862 in Vienna, gaining imperial accreditation in 1868. She was the second woman admitted to the Photographic Society in 1861 and took part in the society’s first exhibition in 1864. She gave up her professional license in 1908, but the studio continued until 1938. Adèle died on 8th February 1941.
